Life Group

feature_blog
I'm starting a new Life Group on Thursday and was happy to get these tips from Lifeway's blog.  The focus is on how to get people to connect in your group.  Some will know each other and have relationships already.  That's great!  But how do we make sure those new to the group feel connected too?

First is connecting.  This can be done through ice breaker questions, providing snacks and time to socialize, or even games.  Something should be done every week to promote building these relationships.    In order to maintain these connections it is important to focus on a common goal.  This could be becoming a good parent or a better spouse.  It could be working toward getting out of debt.  Whatever it is, it should relate to your group study.

Second is preparation.  Preparation includes prayer, planning, starting and ending on time.  Prayer is so important.  Pray about those attending.  Pray against distractions.  Pray for discernment, you have no idea what those attending are going through.

Prepare the ice breakers.  Create questions that will consistently move the group into deeper study and deeper relationships.  Make sure the time is well planned out.  Part of being prepared is starting and ending on time.  Your attendees have to know that you respect their time.

Third is clarifying and explaining the purpose.  We like to know what we are getting into.  We want to know what to expect.  We need to know if it's worth our time.  Share the plan for the coming weeks so they can evaluate and know the benefit they will receive from attending your group.
